Ombudsman Finds no Proof of Unprocedural Auction Sale at CMST

An investigation by the office of the Ombudsman on alleged unprocedural auction sale of motor vehicles and abuse of power by some members of management at the Central Medical Stores Trust has established no proof of the said two allegations.

However Ombudsman Grace Malera said at a press briefing in Lilongwe today that the investigation has established that the Trust did not follow some procurement procedures when changing the method of disposing 29 motor vehicles and two motor cycles.

She has since declared the contract the Trust signed with Connect Auctioneers void and directed CMST to act as the contract was never entered before.
