Malawi Phasing Out Passport

This January, the department of Immigration and citizenship services is set to roll out a new Electronic Passport which phases out the usual booklets.

All passport holders together with new applicants will have to part with a 100 dollars to secure the E-passport.

This part of the arrangement has angered consumer rights activist John Kapito who says this is a breach of contract with those whose passports are yet to expire.

But national spokesperson for the immigration department Joseph Chauwa says the new E-passport is in accordance with new International regulations.
