Scores of Children Fail to Start School in Machinga

At least 38 children have today failed to return to school in the area of Sub-Traditional Authority Adamson in Machinga because authorities are yet to decommission initiation camps in the area.

Child protection worker for the area, Elliot Chamveka, told us this morning that the children are being held in three camps in two villages which is against the Child Protection Act.

One traditional leader says the delay has been occasioned by a request from some parents who wanted to present gifts to the children as the initiation camps were decommissioned.
