MDF Road Project Workers Demand Dues

MDF Road Project Workers Demand Dues

There are emerging concerns among Malawi Defense Force personnel working on the Tsangano-Neno-Mwanza road project.

Some soldiers claim they are owed seven months allowances.

This is a group of 42 soldiers from the Engineers Battalion deployed in Ntcheu for the assignment.

The few we spoke to claimed the 42 are each owed K321,000 for the said period.

“That is about K13m in total. For seven months starting June this year, nothing has paid dividends. But we have been engaging our superiors on the matter,” one concerned soldier said.

The disgruntled soldiers says are only pushing “for what we have worked for”.MDF spokesperson, Major Paul Chiphwanya, however, says the claims are false.

First phase of Tsangano-Neno-Mwanza road currently in progress, covers 21 Kilometers from Tsangano turn-off to Kambilonjo Trade Centre in Ntcheu.

Malawi Government is financing the 132 Kilometer road project to the tune of K9.6bn.
