3,440 Hectors of Crop Fields Damaged in Dowa- DoDMA

The Department of Disaster and Management Affairs (DoDMA) has said that about 3,440 hectors of crop fields have been damaged in Dowa owing to the flash floods caused by Kasangadzi river in areas of Traditional Authorities Mponela, Dzoole and Msakambewa on the 13th of this month.

Spokesperson for the department Chipiliro Khamula has confirmed about the news to Zodiak saying maize, Soyabean, tobbaco and groundnuts are some of the crop fields that have heavily been damaged.

He further stated that the department has also managed to provide relief items like for instance food,tents and blankets to the affected households.

According to Khamula, the number of households that have been displayed and those that have lost their lives due to the incident still remain at 37 and 3 respectively
