A Completed Guardian Shelter Lies Idle for 13 Yrs in Thyolo

A completed guardian shelter at Bvumbwe health center in Thyolo is yet to be opened after a contractor reportedly withheld keys since 2010 due to payment issues.

The facility is now deteriorating and thieves stole some fittings as the guardians are putting up in a small room with poor toilets, bathrooms and no window panes.

Meanwhile, the district's Director of Health and Social Services, Dr. Arnold Jumbe said today that the government has provided a substantial amount to cater for the renovation of the shelter in the 2024/2025 fiscal year under the infrastructure maintenance budget.
