NONMA Concerned with Hostile Communities

The National Organization of Nurses and Midwives of Malawi has suggested that its members who find themselves in situations endangering their life in the communities where they work, should pack and leave.

NONM's Executive Director Shouts Simeza says this will help prevent avoidable loss of lives and property.

Simeza has said this following attacks on health workers at Bowe Health Centre in Dowa. The organisation now says the best for the remaining workers is to abandon the place for much safer places.

Earlier Malawi Health Equity Network Executive Director, George Jobe, held discussions with members of the community healthcare workers at Bowe, chiefs and Dowa District Health officers and said the matter had been resolved.
