PAC Meeting HRDC, Chilima Today

The Public Affairs Committee is today meeting leaders of the Human Rights Defenders Coalition and later in the afternoon UTM president Dr. Saulos Chilima in continuing dialogue over misunderstandings sparked by management of elections.

PAC Executive Director, Robert Phiri, told us this morning that the PAC team will be meeting HRDC leaders in Lilongwe this morning. It is expected that after the two meetings today, PAC may seek to, again, meet MEC chairperson Jane Ansah.

Outcomes of the meeting between Public Affairs Committee leaders and MCP President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera yesterday points to a possibility of the first physical meeting of the country’s big three; Mutharika, Chilima, Chakwera.

Chakwera told reporters after the meeting PAC that he is ready to meet his two political rivals for a possible solution in the post-election misunderstanding.

President Mutharika also told PAC leaders Monday that he is willing to meet all stakeholders in the dialogue initiative.
