Economist Urges MRA to Put Foot Down

Economic analyst, Chiku Kalilombe, has tipped the Malawi Revenue Authority to place leverage on the new custom and excise policy, saying it needs to be used with the right intentions as it is susceptible to abuse.
The MRA says hotel, lodge and inn operators will now be importing duty-free materials and equipment. Corporate Affairs Manager for the MRA, Steve Kapoloma, says the decision is in line with the new custom and excise policy which eyes on promoting tourism.
