ConCourt Blows K240m and Counting

The Constitutional Court handling the presidential election case says it has, so far, used up about 240 million Kwacha of taxpayers’ money since July and that figure is going up.
Registrar of the High Court and Supreme Court, Agnes Patemba, told Zodiak Online the money has been used to pay for accommodation and fuel for the five judges, fuel and allowances for security agents and stationery among other things. The Malawi Defense Force is providing security for judges while the Malawi Police Service is also providing security and order in the precincts of the court throughout this period. The court handling the presidential election case has earned itself public respect for the level of openness it is demonstrating on the journey to judgment of the case before it.
