Muluzi says he was not aware of developments at Livimbo Schools where a Malawian of Asian origin claims ownership of part of what the school says is its land. The misunderstanding at Livimbo Schools opened a can of worms that has now exposed the chaos in the management of land by public landlords; ministry of lands, Malawi Housing Corporation and the city councils in the country. Muluzi, who has just returned from a breather in China and India, says, however, he is still gathering information on what exactly happened but supports on-going investigative efforts by various stakeholders, to bring sanity in the system. The ministry of lands made public documentation purporting that Muluzi, personally, authorized the allocation of the disputed piece of land at Livimbo to an Asian businessman. Member of parliament Nancy Tembo is the one who ignited the discussion when she sought to know what was happening at Livimbo School where an individual had built warehouses. The city council has since demolished the warehouses.
