Bishop Mtumbuka Warns: PAC Infiltrated

Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Karonga, Martin Mtumbuka, has told delegates to an on-going elective Public Affairs Committee annual general meeting that the organization faces a threat of political infiltration from within.

Mtumbuka’s remarks come at the helm of suspicion that the ruling Democratic Progressive Party-DPP-has sympathizers who wish to take positions in the committee to neutralize it.

At the AGM, delegates will be electing new office bearers at the expiry of the tenure of office of the current committee led by Reverend Felx Chingota.

PAC is probably the most revered and feared group of major religious denominations with a strong voice on socio-economic and political issues in the country.

It commands the largest following of Christians and muslems in Malawi.

Bishop Mtumbuka has advised delegates to ensure that entry positions of leadership in PAC be “as narrow as entering heaven” a clear indication he is aware of what is going on.
