APM Blames Malawi Anarchy on Opposition

President Peter Mutharika believes his political opponents are the architects of existing anarchy and lawlessness in Malawi because they are frustrated by loss in May elections.

Mutharika has since warned that his administration would take undisclosed action to ensure that sanity and normalcy returns to a country now identified with public protests and destruction.

President Mutharika singled out the incidents in Kasungu the previous day where members of the public descended on a police station at Nkhamenya, demolished it, set alight alight vehicle and forced over  30 police officers and their families flee.

As the president made his speech in Mulanje district yesterday, members of the public were up in arms against the police in Mangochi where they bayed for the life of an 18-year-old boy, in police custody, suspected of murdering a woman.

Mutharika says his administration and all relevant law enforcement agencies will not sit back and watch this happening.

The president was in Mulanje to officially launch the 2019-2020 national forestry season.
