'Increased MDF Street Presence Cause for Worry'

Increased involvement of the military in internal security matters continues to spark public discussion with regard to the capacity of the police service and its relations with the public.

While government spokesperson, Mark Botomani, says the public and public are supposed to be in a symbiotic relationship, governance expert, Rafiq Hajat, cautions that increased use of the military could have its own repercussions.

On Tuesday, the army was deployed in the streets in Kasungu after police failed to contain volatile situations in the district.
