‘Expect More Protests in 2020’

The message has been made loud and clear. Year 2020 could actually be a photocopy of 2019 for citizens claiming rights in Malawi.

The Human Rights Defenders Coalition-HRDC says it will organize more protests next year to help Malawi citizens demand good governance and accountability by those in power.

HRDC chairperson, Timothy Mtambo, says punitive laws, increasing corruption, authority incompetence and impunity; and oppression of the poor have been the order of the day.

Mtambo says this is the more citizens need sensitization to understand the importance of demonstrations and protests as their role towards achieving socio-economic development.
