Nkhunga Police Station publicist Ignatius Esau Phiri has identified the deceased as Merenika Timothy.

According to Phiri, Timothy was attacked at Ngala fishing camp where she went to do her laundry.

There has lately been a  rise in crocodile attacks in Malawi with even districts such as Mulanje reporting cases in rivers.
