Chinese Mining Co. Sues Chiefs

Ilomba Granite Company; a Chinese mining firm working in Chitipa district has sued chiefs, CSO leaders, and citizens in that district for allegedly interfering with its economic activity.

According to court documents seen by Zodiak, the company is asking the defendants pay damages for the burnt staff houses and loss of business due to the closure of the mine.

The company further alleges that the concerned citizens of Chitipa are demanding the sum of K12 million if they are to stop interfering with its operations.
