MCP MPs Preaching Peace

Over 10 Malawi Congress Party members of parliament are running interface meeting with party youths aimed at building peace ahead of a constitutional court ruling on the presidential election case.
The first such meeting took place yesterday at Lumbadzi Trade Centre in Dowa South East Constituency in a territory politically defined as MCP terrain.

A huge crowd braved a heavy downpour at the venue of the rally; Mkukula Primary School grounds. Speaking during the rally, Director of youth in the party , Richard Chimwendo Banda, called on MCP youths to remain peaceful and calm in the anxiety ahead of the court verdict.

Ken Kandodo, another MP, who is also Deputy Director of strategic planning in the MCP disclosed that the party has lined up a number of such interface public rallies with the party youths aimed at preparing them for the unpredictable court verdict.

Kandodo said,  apart from peace messages, the party is also soliciting challenges that youths are facing in the country to appreciate what solutions they seek.

Member of parliament for Dowa South East Constituency,  Halima Daudi, appealed to the youths to be prayerful as they wait for presidential election case determination.

MCP president and presidential candidate in the May 2019 election, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, and his UTM counterpart, Dr. Saulos Chilima, petitioned the Constitutional Court asking for an order for a fresh election alleging mismanagement of the May presidential election by the Malawi Electoral Commission.
