The National Organization of Nurses and Midwives in Malawi-NONM-has since appealed for support for nurses to be able to discharge their duties effectively.

NONM Executive Director, Ben Edington Phiri, says as a nurses’ body they plan using year 2020 to rebuild public trust.

In year 2019, there were occasions of conflict between nurses and people they serve. Kasungu is one such example where expectant women took to the streets to protest nurses’ treatment.
