Disaster Strikes Lilongwe

The new-year has come with it heavy and destructive rains in parts of the central region where hundreds have already been left destitute as homes and essential properties have been washed away and elsewhere roads and bridges damaged.

Treasury has since released slightly over a billion Kwacha for humanitarian assistance to people who have been affected.

The Department of Disaster Management Affairs -DODMA, says it shall demand more funding should the need arise.
