Political Tolerance, Peace - Khembo

A veteran politician says unless Malawi political leaders embrace tolerance and peace ahead of the court verdict on the presidential election case, they expose their followers to repercussions of their continued political animosity.

The politician, Clement Khembo, said this in Chikwawa Saturday after prayers specially dedicated to thanking God on his 86th birthday.

Khembo observed to reporters that when political conflict degenerates, it is citizens, especially women and children, who bear the blunt of it all.

Fifteen days has lapsed since the five-member panel of Constitutional Court judges retreated to come up with a verdict on the electoral dispute.

On our count, the court should be ready with a judgment within the next 30 days.
