DPP Ward Councilor Quits
A ward councilor for the Democratic Progressive Party-DPP-Alexander Cosmas, has quit the party on account that he was summoned and condemned for leading a pack of councilors pushing for better welfare of ward councilors in the country.
Cosmas is the leader of a splinter group of ward councilors who want increased honoraria and access to loans.
In a letter addressed to DPP Secretary General, Cosmas, ward councilor for Mlomba Ward in Machinga district claims to have been man-handled by some party leaders over this.
He says, he was summoned to the party Eastern region head office where, other than being manhandled was also issued with threats for unspecified action.
DPP spokesperson, Nicholas Dausi, demanded some time to be able to comment on what is going on while DPP Secretary General, Grezelder Geoffrey, said she is ignorant of the matter.
