Msundwe Police-Rape Victims Claim Harassment

Women who say were raped and defiled by police officers at Msundwe and other areas in Lilongwe say police officers conducting fresh criminal investigations into the matter are harassing them.

Malawi Human Rights Commissioner Martha Chizuma has acknowledged receipt of the fresh complaints, saying the Commission has already engaged the police headquarters on the matter.

But National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera has justified the interrogation methods used by the police officers in the matter saying the only way police can get information in investigations is through questioning people.
