Minister of Transport, Jacob Hara, has disclosed that the government has allocated K6 billion towards repairs to some Tropical Cyclone Freddy damaged roads and bridges.

Nsanje Catholic Primary School learners have raised concerns that standards of education have declined at the school blaming it on shortage of textbooks.  

Foundation for Civic Education and Social Empowerment (FOCESE) has embarked on a drive to bring sanity in Nsanje district’s markets a move which it says will help to boost the council’s revenue.

Nsanje district council on Wednesday launched a Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Tithetse cholera and clean-up campaign with a call to communities to embrace the initiatives.

The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture has embarked on an initiative targeting 7, 000 youth in Nsanje district who will take part in climate action by restoring the district’s degraded environment.

Some 200 youth and women in Chikwawa South Constituency have accessed loans under a 10 million kwacha Constituency Development Fund (CDF) revolving fund which they will use to start up businesses.

The Teachers Union of Malawi (TUM) has bailed out 250 teachers who were severely affected by tropical cyclone Freddy in the country’s four districts.

The Government of Norway has pledged more financial support to Malawi in disaster response but also alleviating future disasters.
