River of Life Ministries and its leader Pastor Jason Tonn of Missoula City in Montana State in the United States of America have donated 25 water purification machines to Othakarhaka Foundation, a Mulanje based local organization.

500 households in Mulanje who were affected by Tropical Cyclone Freddy on Tuesday received maize flour and kitchen plastic utensils from an international charitable organization, Bermuda Overseas Mission.

Despite individual members of the Tea Association of Malawi Limited (TAML) making their responses to the Tropical Cyclone Freddy, the organization on Thursday made a K12 million donation worthy of relief items to disaster affected smallholder tea growers and other affected households in Thyolo district.

Preliminary assessment by the Farmers Union of Malawi (FUM) indicates that over 15,000 hectares of crops were washed away by Tropical Cyclone Freddy induced floods.

The Farmers Union of Malawi (FUM) says it is sympathizing with farmers whose irrigation schemes have been damaged by the Tropical Cyclone Freddy.

A Mulanje based NGO, Othakarhaka Foundation on Monday made a donation of MK5 million worth of relief food and non-food items to Cyclone Freddy affected households in Mulanje.

MDI First Cohort Graduates

Mulanje Development Institute (MDI) on Friday graduated its first cohort with a call for the graduates to utilize skills and knowledge acquired during their two year stay at the college.

Christian Aid in partnership with Churches Action in Relief and Development (CARD) and Circle for Integrated Community Development (CICOD) have launched a Cyclone Freddy response in Mulanje, Phalombe and Chikwawa districts.

Operation Smile Malawi led by the organization’s Trustee Abdul Aziz Yasin, on Wednesday travelled to Mulanje to support Cyclone Freddy survivors with assorted relief items.
