The court premises in Lilongwe’s area 3 were a no-go-zone for every Jim and Jack yesterday when the High Court sitting as Constitutional Court was passing its Judgment on the Presidential election nullification petition.

President Peter Mutharika has, yet again, been compelled to publicly remind his party officials and followers that he is in charge, a statement that has raised eyebrows at what could be going on.

It’s all ears to the courts the more the clock ticks away counting-down to the day of pronouncement of the Constitutional Court verdict on the presidential election case.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has been given three days to arrest two individuals named in the alleged attempts to bribe constitutional court judges with the aim of having verdict in the presidential election case apparently swayed in favor of DPP candidate President Peter Mutharika.

The Malawi Defense Force (MDF) has, reportedly, fired a senior officer days after the officer engaged his senior in a bloody fist fight.

President Peter Mutharika Friday used a public platform to go to town on his political opponents accusing them of spending time in ‘futile’ efforts to topple his regime.

Police say they have set up a six member criminal investigation team into the alleged human rights abuses including rape and defilement by officers at Msundwe in Lilongwe in October last year.

President Peter Mutharika says is he is waiting, with keen interest, the outcomes of police investigations into what happened at Msundwe in October where a police officer was stoned to death on duty and a string of women and girls allege were raped and defiled by men in uniform.
