Centre for Human Rights Education, Advice and Assistance (CHREAA) has reiterated calls for the government to rehabilitate or else relocate the inmates at Zomba Maximum prison to other correctional facilities, years after Malawi Prison Inspectorate declared the prison unfit, owing to its state.

The Lilongwe Wildlife Trust (LWT) has warned communities living around Mulanje mountain reserve to be on high alert on the invasive alien species which are spreading and choking aquatic life besides affecting agricultural production in the process.

A recent research conducted by Nkhumba Youth Network in Phalombe has revealed that child marriages, gender-based violence and harmful cultural practices are prevalent in matrilineal societies in the district.

The Wildlife Environmental Society of Malawi (WESM) has called for concerted efforts to avert the further spreading of invasive alien species that are posing threats to the environment.
