Botswana based Brainpower Foundation and local based Seed for Life (S4L) have made available a donation of 12, 000 textbooks to six schools in Ntcheu district.

Almost a month after stormy rains hit Ntcheu district rendering thousand of households homeless, a locally-based organization, Future for All (Future4All) has made available food items to 30 households of Dzoole village, Traditional Authority Kwataine (T/A) in the district.

The Epilepsy Warriors Foundation an organization advocating for the rights of people with epilepsy has called on government and non-state actors to popularise all forms of disabilities aimed at promoting the rights of people with disabilities in the country.

Traditional Authority (T/A) Phambala of Ntcheu has called stakeholders in the district for a consecrated efforts in the fight against HIV/Aids arguing it is key in reducing the pandemic.

Ncheu Second Grade Magistrate Court Wednesday convicted nine people for cultivating in Dzonzi-Mvai Forest Reserves where over 200 hectares of land has been encroached.

The Ntcheu Senior Resident Magistrate Court has convicted and sentenced a 43-year-old man to pay a One Million Kwacha fine or in default serve a three-year jail term for stealing government medicines.

A 42 year old Man in Ntcheu will spend the next fifteen years in cooler after Ntcheu Senior Resident Magistrate Court convicted him for defiling his 12 year old step daughter.

A magistrate court in Ntcheu has ordered a man sent to jail for 15 years for defiling a stepped daughter aged 12.

George James, 42, pleaded not guilty to the offence before Ntcheu Senior Resident Magistrate Yohane Munthali who convicted him.

Ntcheu police spokesperson, Hastings Chigalu, says James did what he did on 3rd August, 2020 at Zidana Village, Inkosi Kwataine in the district.

“The state paraded witnesses to secure the conviction,” said Chigalu.  

In mitigation, James pleaded with court for leniency saying he was a first offender.

However, state through police prosecutor, Brazio Kambalame asked court for a stiffer punishment arguing that prevalence of defilement was high in the district.

Senior Resident Magistrate Munthali said he thought a 15-year-old jail term was adequate to send a warning shot to would-be offenders.
