Police at Bvumbwe in Thyolo have on Wednesday arrested a 49-year-old man, Pierson Chibade, for allegedly defiling a 7-year-old girl.

Police in Bvumbwe township in Thyolo have cautioned communities against suspected criminals that are relocating and proposing marriages to desperate women affected by Cyclone Freddy in the southern region.

Limbe Senior Resident Magistrate, Byson Masonga, has sentenced four men to seven years imprisonment for torching Bvumbwe Police Sub-station in Thyolo in January last year.

A fresh appeal has gone out to the police officers and the community members to prioritize dialogue in sorting out their differences as opposed to resorting to violence where police station infrastructure is damaged and, in some instances, life lost.
