Problems after problems. Winter cropping farmers are now enduring another pain. After being subjected to cyclone Freddy which swept away crops and livestock early this year, farmers are still struggling.

Agriculture authorities in Thyolo say the fall armyworms have attacked 7, 950 hectares of crops in the district.

As has been the case with the past three consecutive farming seasons in South and Central African countries, this farming season Fall Armyworm (FAW) have also affected maize crop within the region.

An expert in agriculture, Tamani Nkhono Mvula, says early planting could help containing Fall Armyworms that have raised havoc in the country in recent years.
