Malawi national football team, the Flames, beat Saudi Second Division professional outfit, Al-Ansar, 8-nil in a strength testing encounter played Friday.

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) says is yet to receive funding from government for the National Football Team’ camp in preparations against Ivory Coast in the World cup qualifiers slated for October 8 and 11 this year.

Flames’ Head Coach Meck Mwase has been offered a new one-year performance-based contract, effective 02nd February this year and runs up to 01st February next year.

Government has reversed its earlier plan to hire two deputy coaches for the Flames and instead it has given back the authority to the Football Association of Malawi-FAM.
