The Malawi Prison Services (MPS) has conceded that it is contributing to environmental degradation in the country through the use of fuel wood when preparing meals in its correctional facilities.

It has emerged that since July 2021, the beginning of this financial year, police and prison stations have not been able to access funds from treasury to pay their suppliers.
