Mzuzu city has become the third district in the Northern Region to be hit with Cholera after laboratory results for samples taken from an 80-year-old lady have come out positive.

Some vendors in Mzuzu continue to raise concerns on their health safety following the continued piling up of garbage outside the Mzuzu city main market where some vendors do set up their businesses and some streets within town.

Mzuzu City Waste Management Challenges

A mountain of garbage growing just outside Mzuzu city main market has become a source of discomfort. Market vendors and shop owners close to the heap are now raising concern on health safety implications of operating in such an environment. The problem is also visible in some city streets where waste lays unattended for months on end.
