The Ministry of Gender says its initial plan to recruit extra two thousand adult literacy instructors has been halted in compliance with an order from the Department of Human Resources to let local authorities determine the number of instructors needed.

Adult literacy instructors have taken a swipe at government over the delay to disburse the honoraria arrears.

Government is yet to settle K3.5 billion honoraria arrears for adult literacy instructors dating back to 2017.
