Women under the banner Justice Associates has called on its members to stand film and fight HIV alongside Covid-19.

Elizabeth Chilimampunga, Justice Associate’s coordinator for Neno district, (JASS) told Zodiak on Wednesday that the citizenry living with HIV/AIDS should take up a leading role in encouraging others to go for HIV test and provide psychological support as now much attention is being given to Covid-19 pandemic.

"With Covid-19, more resources are being channeled to Covid-19 fight thereby leaving other devastating pandemics such as AIDS aside. This is putting more lives at risk of dying and furthering infections", she said.

Chilimampunga further said there was also a need for government to incorporate its members in identification of social cash transfer beneficiaries and in other projects saying a lot of HIV patients are being left out in such interventions.

Group village headwoman Kamoto also rebuked discriminatory behaviors among some people towards HIV and AIDS patients saying there is more life to knowing ones status than living in denial.

"It's sad to note that even chiefs are in the forefront discriminating people living with HIV and AIDS, this is uncalled for, these people are living healthy lives than those untested", she said.

In his remarks Neno District Aids Coordinating Committee Chairperson Samuel Njolomole thanked government for the introduction of 13A legmen while asking it to also to come up with deliberate efforts to caution parents living with the pandemic through provision of loans for businesses.

Njolomole then asked people not to relax in the wake of Covid-19 saying the pandemic might catch our nation unaware and result in catastrophic outcomes.
