41 Years Serving Malawi Police KIA Branch

Kamuzu International Airport police at the weekend threw a farewell party for two long-serving lady police officers who have been in the serving at the airport for 41 years.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ellen Liganga joined the police in 1978 alongside Assistant Superintendent Martha Idrissa.

In her farewell speech, Liganga observed that there will always come the time to leave although “always tough and hard to say goodbye to your long-time friends”.

Her sentiment were also echoed by Assistant Superintendent Idrissa who emphasized enhanced hard work among police officers, high level of integrity, honesty, perseverance and sustained discipline.

Speaking at the farewell, new Director of Airports’ police securities, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mavuto Chiumbuzo, hailed the outgoing two for their good leadership.

“This far, it’s a clear indication that the two of you maintained discipline and diligently discharged your duties as law enforcers, this is something our officers have to emulate,” said Chiumbudzo assuring that the two had left indelible marks that shall be cherished for a long time.

“I am delighted to make this speech to both of you our established, accomplished, determined, dedicated, disciplined and committed officers,” Chiumbudzo said.

KIA police officers made contributions together with well-wishers which resources were used to organize the farewell where the two were also presented with some memorabilia.
