Chipanga Steps Down as K.U.FC Chairman

Businessman and Chairperson for Super league financially crippled side Karonga United FC Alufeyo Dikon Chipanga Banda has resigned from his position citing personal reasons.

Mr Chipanga Banda told Zodiak online Thursday that his decision to resign has been arrived at so that he should be able to concentrate on his business and family affairs.

“I have done my part and I think I should let other people take over from me, it’s not like I have completely moved out of football I will be helping the team (Karonga United) in some areas but not as the chairman.
“Let me stress here that, my decision to quit has nothing to do with the status of the club or maybe the financial problems that the team is going through, I made this decision because I want to concentrate on running my business,” Chipanga said.

The club’s General Secretary Ramzy Simwaka has confirmed the resignation in a separate interview saying the officials of the club will meet today to map the way forward.
“We’ve indeed received his resignation letter today, I can’t comment much on this, all I can say at the moment is that we “Karonga united executive committee” will be meeting later today to discuss the issue at hand possibly then we can kmap the way forward,” Simwaka said.

It is understood that some officials at Karonga United are refusing to accept Chipanga’s resignation citing his departure will cripple the team financially even more.
