Silver strikers on Tuesday announced the signing of Blue Eagles FC forward Foster Bitoni at an undisclosed fee and has agreed to a 3 year contract.

Bitoni who was instrumental in Blue Eagle’s run to the FISD challenge cup glory in 2019, was a number one target for the bankers having partied ways with 2019 TNM Super League top goals scorer Khuda Muyaba who is currently with south African top flight outfit Polokwane city.

He becomes Dan Kabwe’s first signing following his appointment as silver strikers head coach a week ago.

Speaking after the announcement, Coach Dan Kabwe said: “If Silver Strikers is to be the best team in the country we have to get the best players on the land and Bitoni proved while at Blue Eagles that he can play at the top level and help the team to win, surely with our mentorship and guidance he will maintain that level of play.

“Maybe others are saying we’ve bought Bitoni to replace Muyaba but these are two different players, our new signing (Bitoni) can’t do exactly what Khuda was doing but the most important thing is to have competition amongst the players in each and every position which will make the club strong in all the departments.

“With the help of the board we will bring in new players and hopefully we will be ready to take on the season and do better,” Kabwe said.

In his remarks, Bitoni expressed gratitude in signing for the Bankers saying he is geared to deliver results and help the team achieve its goals.

Bitoni was a menace to defenders in the 2019 football season scoring a number of vital goals both in league and cup matches as well as providing assists to fellow attackers.

He went on to win the award of upcoming player at his club.

Meanwhile Blue Eagles have bid farewell to Bitoni but said much as they will miss his services, they are optimistic that the squad will not be affected by his departure.

Chairman for Blue Eagles FC Alexander Ngwala told Zodiak Online that their squad is still intact and that it was the player’s wish to join Silver Strikers.

“The player wanted to join Silver Strikers and we couldn’t stand on his way,” said Ngwala.

The 2020 football season will begin on 14 March with the EcoBank Charity shield involving Nyasa big Bullets, Silver Strikers, Blue Eagles and Mighty Be-Forward Wanderers with the elite league expected to kick-off the following week.
