Silver Strikers FC & Some Released Players in a Contractual Row
Silver Strikers Football Club and some players it released are in a contractual row with the latter alleging that the club is reluctant to clear them.
But club Chief Executive Officer, Thokozani Chimbali, acknowledges that some of the concerned players have running contracts with the outfit until August and the team is meeting all its contractual obligations.
However, one of the players, Victor Limbani, says he can’t secure a new club in the absence of the clearance.
Before all football activities were suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions in March, Silver Strikers had a massive clear-out which saw seventeen players.
Many of them with running contracts, being dismissed with authorities citing performance and discipline as some of the reasons.
However, other players claim the club is yet to clear them, a development that has left them clubless despite interest from other clubs.
One of the affected players, Victor Limbani, who was dismissed after serving the club for six years, narrates his ordeal.
“I don’t understand what is happening now because they told me am no longer needed at the club and yet they are failing to give me clearance to go to other clubs.
“I just want to play football nothing else, all am dreaming of is football.
But club Chief Executive Officer, Thokozani Chimbali, says all the dismissed players were compensated and is still meeting all contractual obligations with those that have running contracts until August.
“We followed all procedures of dismissing players and it’s a surprise that some players are expressing such claims.
“He (Limbani) has a running contract that’s why we are still obliged to honor his contract.”
However Zodiak Online has information that Victor Limbani is eyeing a move to Blue Eagles who are willing to get him on board as a free agent.
The club was also dragged to court by one of the dismissed players, Lazarus Nyemera (currently with Blue Eagles), who claimed his compensation did not match the years of service.
