Civil Service United: Six Out-of-Contract Players Agree New Deals

TNM Super League outfit Civil Service United says it has started negotiating with six of its players over a possible contracts renewal which are due to expire this month end.

Due to coronavirus pandemic which halted the kickoff of this year’s football season, the servants are likely to maintain its squad for the 2020 campaign.

Ex-Epac United goalkeeper Tione Tembo is among the six whose contracts are due to expire on 30 June.

Civil service united have agreed contract extensions with Tembo, Midfielders Charles White and Innocent Tanganyika, Limbani Nyirenda and 2 others.

The 6, whose deals were due to expire on 30 June, will stay until the culmination of the 2020 football season with an option to extend for another year.

Some of the players could sign contracts at a later date which keep them at Civil Service United beyond this year’s campaign.

Midfielder Charles White was a regular until suffering a significant injury last year whereas goalkeeper Tione tembo became a significant figure between the sticks during the previous campaigns.

Civil service united General Secretary Ronald Chiwaula says the servants are likely to offer some of the players contracts for next season and beyond, but the immediate priority was to secure their services for this year’s campaign which is earmarked to kick off in august, which was postponed because of coronavirus.

Pressure is mounting on teams to consider extending contracts for its players having seen the kick off this year’s campaign suspended due to Covid19 pandemic.
