Netball Association of Malawi-NAM says it will roll out grassroots programs that will help to nurture talents that will be incorporated in the National team ranks.

NAM Technical Director Samuel Kanyenda says with the current trends of the COVID19 pandemic, the program will be implemented when the country is declared coronavirus free.

However, NAM says the manual and developmental plans for the grassroots program have already been finalized.

According to Kanyenda there is no proper transition as many players don’t pass through the right channels to reach the senior team hence the recent slump in form by the queens.

Kanyenda says; “Introduction of junior teams can be crucial in maintaining the intensity of the queens at the top level as well as identifying possible and proper replacements of the current crop of senior national team players.”

“We will work with the already existing structures and organizations like Malawi Schools Sports Association and Primary and secondary school teachers.”

Malawi so far has two national teams, the queens and the under20. Meanwhile, kanyenda says in the manual and developmental plans that they already developed, the introduction of under 15, 17, and 18 has been included.
