Sports Minister to Meet All Sports Associations
Ministry of Sports says it will soon hold an interface meeting with sports associations' leaders in an effort to review progress of sports development in the country.
Minister in the ministry Ulemu Msungama told Zodiak online on Sunday that he wants to change public's perception that sports ministers only put much focus on football leaving out other activities.
Msungama says his ministry is in the final phase of preparations and will soon make public when and where the meeting will take place.
"During the Previous (DPP) administration Sports ministers were branded as bais as they were only focusing on football and partly netball leaving out the rest of the sporting activities so I want to change that.
"We want other activities to be involved in our programs as a ministry. Let us develop together.
"As for the date and place we haven't yet decided but I can only assure that this will happen soon enough and we will make public any decision we take," Msungama said.
The minister has already had interface meetings with the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), Netball Association of Malawi(NAM) but wants to extend his familiarisation exercise to all sporting disciplines.
