ACB Stops CRFA Election Process
The Anti-Corruption Bureau-ACB has issued a restraint order to the Central Region Football Association-CRFA that stops all processes concerning its elective assembly on 14th November in Salima.
The bureau’s Director-General, Reyneck Matemba, has told us, the order, which has also been served on the Football Association of Malawi and the Malawi National Council of Sports, follows evidence indicating that corrupt practices marred the nomination exercise for various positions which closed last weekend.
Matemba said the ACB will conduct a thorough investigation on the matter and will advise the association on the way forward.
“We received numerous complaints regarding this election that there were some corrupt practices during the nomination process and we thought of putting a stop to it so that we officially handle the matter.
“We expect those responsible (CRFA, FAM, and MNCS) to adhere to the order because if they don’t we will enforce the law on them.”
Matemba added that the ACB will now start addressing football issues as a priority.
“Let me also emphasize here that we have decided to put emphasis on football issues because we haven’t really addressed them in the right manner.”
"We receive a lot of complaints even at FAM but we were not acting on them,” Matemba said.
