According to CRFA’s general secretary Benard Chiwiruwiru Harawa the association has nothing to hide and followed proper procedure during the nomination process hence the decision not to challenge the order.

“We are a law-abiding association and we are guided by the rules of the game and the country’s constitution so it’s only right for us to wait for clearance.

“Let them (ACB) do their work because we don’t have anything to hide, I mean, it’s not like we are shielding anyone, the process was fair and credible.

“At the moment we will not stop our background preparations because we don’t want to get caught off guard when ACB gives green light but the election remains on hold until then,” said Harawa

The Anti-Corruption Bureau-ACB issued a restraint order to the Central Region Football Association-CRFA on Wednesday stopping all processes concerning its elective assembly on 14th November in Salima.

The bureau’s Director-General, Reyneck Matemba, told us, the order has been served on the Football Association of Malawi and Malawi National Council of Sports, following evidence indicating that corrupt practices marred the nomination exercise for various positions which closed last weekend.

Matemba said the ACB will conduct a thorough investigation on the matter and advise the association on the way forward.
