TNM employees on Saturday walked a distance of 8 kilometers down Chikwawa road in its “Get Fit-Live Long” nature walk in a drive to keep their bodies fit and healthy.

TNM Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Arnold M’bwana told Zodiak apart from boosting staff fitness levels, such an event also helps to diffuse the employees stress.

“The idea is to ensure that our staff are physically, psychologically and mentally healthy.

“For any company to survive, you need employees whose levels of physical, psychological and mentally health are optimal, explained M’bwana.

According to the TNM Acting CEO this is an annual event and normally they do it between August and September but this year it has delayed.

“The purpose of bringing employees together walking an 8 kilometer distance is to ensure fitness of our employees, besides people are experiencing a lot of things so we allow the employees walk, appreciate the nature and diffuse stress.

On business, the TNM CEO said Covid-19 has had an impact as they were not able to do some activities as a result of lockdown.

“So covid-19 has had an impact on us both sides, we were not able to do some activities due to the lockdown besides because of the state of the economy, a lot of things are not happening in the country.

“We operate locally but also get international business so things have not been the same, the lockdown impacted on our revenue as people were not coming to Malawi,” explained M’bwana.

He was however quick to say there was upsurge in data usage during lockdown.

TNM’s Social Media Officer Grace Jana has described the nature walk us critical in boosting her fitness levels.

“I have benefited quite a lot physically and also mentally, a person cannot survive without having a stable body and fit body,” said Grace.
