VAM EGM on 4 December
Volleyball Association of Malawi-VAM has announced that it will hold its Executive committee elections on 4th December in Salima at a venue to be announced later following clearance from Malawi National Council of Sports.
Nkhoma said the current committee is in office temporarily as their mandate expired last year.
“We were supposed to go to polls last year December but since we were hosting the confederation of African Volleyball Zone VI games we decided as a committee to shift the elections to a later date which was also collided with the resurgence of Covid19 pandemic in the country.
Nkhoma however said the association has on Thursday started receiving nomination papers from aspirants but they (aspirants) have to fulfill minimum requirements on each position to be eligible.
“In line with our constitution, we have set aside requirements for one to fulfill if he/she wants to contest at the EGM upon nomination. On the presidency, one has to poses a Malawi School Certificate of Education, an Olympic solidarity sports management certificate, and should also be a member of the current committee.
“On the general secretary position, one has to have Malawi School certificate of education and at least four years of experience, whereas the rest of the positions including that of a committee member, one has to have at least two years administration experience serving at league level with some formal education,” Nkhoma said.
