FDH Bank Sponsors PGA Golf Tournament

FDH Bank Sponsors PGA Golf Tournament

The FDH bank says it is part of its core interest to see the country producing future golf champions to compete on the international platform.

The bank’s marketing and communications manager Levi Mkunika said this today Thursday in Lilongwe during the presentation of a 5-million-kwacha cheque towards preparations for a golf tournament next week at the Lilongwe Golf Club, to be hosted by the Professional Golfers Association, PGA.

Mkunika said, for example, the bank has contributed over 1.2 billion kwacha towards sports development, which signifies its commitment to advancing sporting activities in the country.

“Golf is one of the sporting activities that we as a bank are striving to advance. We hope that the country through such contributions should be able to produce professional golfers”, said Mkunika.

Professional Golfers Association president General Henry Odillo RTD, says the association is grateful for the sponsorship which will go a long way in addressing challenges they have during the preparations for the tournament next week.

“We are grateful, and still collecting sponsorship money from other well-wishers. So far, the highest amount has come from the FDH Bank. We are probably looking at a target of 6 or 7 million kwacha, that would be sufficient to manage the tournament”, said Odillo.

Odillo said preparations are on course, having conducted a player’s tournament last month at the same venue as the first this year, and there are positive developments at the moment in preparation for the tournament.

The FDH Bank says it wishes that the country’s golf should be at par with neighboring countries like Zimbabwe, Zambia, and South Africa among other countries.
