Malawi Commonwealth Games Association has unveiled 22 athletes who will represent Malawi at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games slated for July 28th in Birmingham, England.

The 22 athletes are coming from 5 Sports codes namely Netball, Swimming, Boxing, Athletics, and Judo.

Leader of delegation Henry Sakala told us that 16 officials from different entities will accompany Team Malawi which will leave on 22 July 2022.

Meanwhile, Minister of Sports Richard Chimwendo Banda has lauded MultiChoice Malawi for donating a Gotv decoder to each of the traveling members as a motivation.

Meanwhile, the Netball Association of Malawi-NAM has dismissed reports that it has tampered with the Queens’ squad for the Commonwealth Games.

It is being reported that Queens’ Head Coach, Peace Chawinga, is not happy with authorities after they forced the inclusion of some players in the team against her wish.

But NAM General Secretary, Isaac Chimwala, says authorities only wanted a balanced squad with some young players for transition.

At the Commonwealth Games, the Queens will play New Zealand, Barbados, and England.

The list is as follows;

Athletics
Coach Pachisi Nyasulu, Asimenye Simwaka, Farook Mponda, and Stern Lifa.

Boxing
Coach Kassim Makwinja, Elias Bonzo, Lewis Zakeyu Mbewe, and Natasha Maya.

Judo
Coach Christopher Chilasa, Austin Chikwapula, Harriet Bornface.

Swimming
Coach Brave Lifa, Tsinde Kumbatira and Jessica Makwenda.

The rest of the members are coming from the Malawi national netball team the Queens and here is the full squad;
Bridget Kumwenda, Caroline Mtukule, Jane Chimaliro, Takondwa Lwazi, Joyce Mvula, Loreen Ngwira, Mwawi Kumwenda Martha Dambo, Thandi Galeta,Towera Vinkhumbo, Shira Dimba, Tendai Masamba and Sindi Sintowe.

Dr. Jones Kaponda Masiye is the general Team Physician.
