Members of Television Islam Sports Gallery WhatsApp Group have mobilized K550, 000 and used it to renovate five houses of Cyclone Freddy survivors in Blantyre.

The Group Administrator, Yasin Limu, says the group formation was not just meant to be for sports alone “but also a life changing program and platform for reaching out to friends and families with different problems.

“Today that has been manifested as you can see now that what started as a small thing with just a dream has now managed to reach out to people who were displaced and had no any hope of having a shelter.”

Jamani Chipole, one of the beneficiaries from Suya Village who commended the gesture said he never thought that a WhatsApp group could reach out to them.

“Continue doing this to others,” he said.

Former Netball Association of Malawi General Secretary, Carol Bapu, who graced the occasion asked for more groups to emulate the gesture.

"TV Islam Sports Gallery is just one group but there are many groups out there that are involved in sports and we ask them to take part and reach out to the people they serve," said Bapu.

Other notable people available at the handover ceremony was players agent, Duncan Kamwendo, FIFA referee Happiness Mbandambanda and sports analyst Medson Nsona who hailed television sports gallery for organizing such a life changing initiative.
