Ganatra,Chinkhadwe Win Inaugural Standard Bank Be-More Golf Tourney

Viney Ganatra and Shillah Chinkhwandwe became the first golfers to win the inaugural Standard Bank Be-More golf tournament held at Lilongwe golf club in the men’s and ladies category on Sunday after amassing 41 and 40 points respectively.

Speaking after the tournament Chief Financial Officer of Standard Bank Temwani Simwaka said this was part of their cerebration of 50 years of existence in Malawi and thought of interacting and networking with their clients by organizing the tournament.

“We’ve been working in this country for 50 years now and we thought it wise to bring our clients together to celebrate with them and it has been a success tournament, we are so happy and impressed,” said Simwaka.

In his remarks Ganatra praised standard Bank for staging what he called the greatest golf tournament in Malawi.

“I personally haven’t experienced such an event in Malawi, kudos to Standard Bank for staging a nice and mature tournament.
 
“We only see this when we go outside the country to play, this was amazing,” said Ganatra.

On her part Chinkhwandwe hailed her opponents saying she had to dig deep to win.

“I played against best golfers it wasn’t easy but I managed to win which is what matters at the end of the day,” said Chinkhwandwe.

Paul Chidale was crowned champion in the professionals category whereas Deborah Lazaro was named champion in the junior category.
